Southill Area Centre invites applications for the following positions:
Catering Assistant (full-time): to support the Café Supervisor in the running of the community café, in providing affordable nutritious meals and in the preparation and delivery of both in-house and outside catering. Catering qualification/ HACCP desirable but not essential.

Out of Hours Supervisor (Part-time): to provide support to staff and services users of the building, mainly for evenings and weekends. Ensure safe and secure access for all users. Knowledge of equipment maintenance, e.g. electrical qualification etc, desirable but not essential.

The Southill Area Centre is a new purpose built area centre for the Southill Community that since its opening in September 2008 has enhanced the lives of the local residents by providing them with a new purpose built community centre where local groups meet and plan their activities.
It has a strong sporting ethos and has as part of its facility a Handball Alley and a Multipurpose Sports Hall.
Its tenants comprise of The Family resource Centre Creche,The Limerick Youth Service , Southill After schools club and The Community Youth Work Team.
It also offers a range of Outreach services:
1. Local Employment Service 2. Welfare Rights Officer 3. AlJeff Drug Treatment Agency 4. Educational Welfare Board 5. Limerick City Council (Housing Department)
At the core of the centre is The Community Cafe, which opened to the public on the 9th October 2008 and since has proved to be a successful venture in its provision of Breakfast, Lunches, and snacks to both residents of the Area and people working for the different agencies voluntary and statutory that operate in the area.
The cafe provides a safe social space for residents to meet and have a healthy meal; in addition it has evolved as an informal contact between residents and some of the agencies that work with them. The ethos of the cafe is to provide a healthy balanced diet to the community.
The cafe also provides meals for Organisations and Agency’s using the centre for meetings etc.
With the cafe at the core of the community centre it is has evolved as a focal point for the community where residents enjoy meeting one another and access information on services that are available in the locality. Central to the ethos of the café is the promotion of healthy eating and the provision of affordable nutritionally balanced meals.
