The Southill Area Centre is a new purpose built area centre for the Southill Community that since its opening in September 2008 has enhanced the lives of the local residents by providing them with a new purpose built community centre where local groups meet and plan their activities.
At the core of the centre is The Community Cafe, which opened to the public on the 9th October 2008 and since has proved to be a successful venture in its provision of Breakfast, Lunches, and snacks to both residents of the Area and people working for the different agencies voluntary and statutory that operate in the area.
The cafe provides a safe social space for residents to meet and have a healthy meal; in addition it has evolved as an informal contact between residents and some of the agencies that work with them. The ethos of the cafe is to provide a healthy balanced diet to the community.
The cafe also provides meals for organizations and Agency’s using the centre for meetings etc.
With the cafe at the core of the community centre it is has evolved as a focal point for the community where residents enjoy meeting one another and access information on services that are available in the locality. Central to the ethos of the café is the promotion of healthy eating and the provision of affordable nutritionally balanced meals
